Tremblement de terre Messine

The earthquake that, on December 28, 1908, destroyed Messina and Reggio Calabria attracted droves of camera operators. We are uncertain of the identity of this film. We wander dismayed through the ruins of the Sicilian city: the port, Piazza Cairoli, the Palazzata. The townsfolk find refuge in first aid tents, search amongst the wreckage for survivors, load carts with household items, carry corpses on stretchers.
