A radio, a table tennis paddle, the drawing of a child – from a respectful distance, the camera captures the few personal belongings of prisoners. The gaze lingers for a long time on everyday objects that are by no means a given in prison and which, through this focus, become defiant symbols of individuality. Intercut images reveal the stark geometry and functionality of the cells, which remain deserted until the very last shot of the film.
